Alvaro Morata was Spain’s top striker in the build up to the World Cup in Russia, but the 25-year-old lost his place in the team after a difficult 2018 for Chelsea.

Morata missed out on a call-up for the World Cup, and he has now admitted that it was a difficult time for him watching the games on TV.

“I found it hard to come to terms with not being able to go to the World Cup,” Morata said.

“It was a really hard time for me, but it is not worth me dwelling on the past and speak about these difficult moments.

“It was my biggest dream and instead I had to watch the games on the TV and yes it was a hard time…a really difficult time.”
