Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman, currently on loan at German side Schalke 04, is refusing to give up on being a Chelsea regular in the near future.
The 24-year-old Ghana international joined Chelsea from Augsburg for £21.7m in August 2015 but wasn’t trusted enough by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who preferred Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back.
Antonio Conte also didn’t trust the Ghanaian as he deemed him too attack-minded for his style of play, which meant Rahman had to leave Chelsea on loan to Schalke in 2016 only to suffer a serious knee injury which kept him out of the game for 12 months.
The 24-year-old rejoined Schalke on loan in January until 2019 after recovering from a serious knee injury but he isn’t confident his Chelsea career isn’t over.
“You can never say where football will guide you to. Maybe I stay for the next 10 years at Schalke but I can also imagine playing for Chelsea again,” Rahman said, according to Evening Standard.
“As one of the best clubs in the world, Chelsea gives many players the chance to make their dreams come true and become better footballers.
“The club gives talented players a chance to prove themselves. At Schalke, I am now regularly in front of 60,000 spectators on the pitch, which makes me incredibly good in my development.”
Rahman has made two appearances in the Bundesliga this season for Schalke.
