Chelsea have had a good start to the season, despite dropping points against West Ham on Sunday.
Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has brought his philosophy to west London with the Blues playing beautiful football, with a good mix of possession football and high press.
Chelsea are currently third on the table and are in the title race alongside Manchester City and Liverpool, but Blues legend Ron Harris is hoping that the new boss will be given time to succeed at Stamford Bridge.
Roman Abramovich has an unhealthy record of giving managers the boot after a poor season, and no manager in the Roman Abramovich era has lasted more than 3-and-a-half years – with Jose Mourinho lasting the most under the Russian billionaire.
Ron Harris is hoping that Sarri will be given enough time to succeed at Chelsea, and alleged that the Italian who hasn’t won a trophy in his career is on trial at the club.
He said: “When you look at the track record over the last 10 years, they only seem to stay a couple of seasons and then they seem to fall out and leave.
“It would be nice for Sarri to do a stint and win a few things for the club.
“I think that, without being disrespectful to him, a lot of the Chelsea supporters wouldn’t have known who Sarri was until he came here. So obviously he’s on trial as much as one or two of the players he’s brought in.
“He seems to have bought wisely at the moment and things seem to be going ever so well for him.”
