Liverpool snatched a late draw at Stamford Bridge through Daniel Sturridge after Eden Hazard had given Chelsea the lead in the first half.
Chelsea could have easily won the game if Eden Hazard had scored after been put through on goal in the second half with just the Liverpool goalkeeper to beat.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri recently said Liverpool and Manchester City were ahead of Chelsea, with the Italian also revealing Chelsea needed a year under his tutelage to get to their level.
After Chelsea almost beat Liverpool twice in the space of four days, Sarri now has a change of heart about Liverpool.
Speaking after the draw with Liverpool on Saturday, Sarri insisted Chelsea are closer to Liverpool than he initially thought.
Asked whether the last two games against Liverpool have changed his mind about Chelsea being behind Manchester City and Liverpool, Sarri said: They are before us. I think we are more close than I thought one week ago.”
Sarri also admitted to being disappointed with Liverpool’s late equaliser.
“I am disappointed because they scored in the last minute,” Sarri added.
“I am very, very happy with performance. I think that the draw maybe is the right result. The match was wonderful.”
