Gary Cahill is officially Chelsea captain but the 33-year-old former England international is down the pecking order in Sarri’s backline and is yet to feature for the Blues this season.
As a result of Cahill’s lack of involvement, with reports claiming the Chelsea skipper might leave the club in January, Sarri is set to make a change to the team’s captaincy.
Eden Hazard and Cesar Azpilicueta are said to be the leading candidates to become Chelsea skipper, but Sarri has revealed that he has made his decision but will speak to the players before revealing his next captain.
“I have my idea, I have decided, but before telling you my decision I would like to speak to the players and the club.
“In this moment it’s not possible so for the moment the captain is Azpilicueta. I will tell you the final decision after I will be able to talk with the players and the club.”
