Chelsea overcame a very intimidating atmosphere at the Toumba Stadium to record a 1-0 win against PAOK away from.
It was a very comfortable game for the Blues, and one many expected Chelsea will get lots of goals. But Willian’s early goal was all that separated both sides.
Chelsea were in cruise control of the game and had 69 percent of the possession, and the Blues had 22 shots in the game compared to PAOK’s 3 shots.
Maurizio Sarri hailed his side for their display after the game, but admitted that he was unhappy with the scoreline as his side missed many chances to kill the game.
“We were in control of the match for 90 minutes,” said the Chelsea boss.
“We had a lot of opportunities, we missed them, so I am really happy with the three points and the performance but not the result, because when it is time to kill the match, we have to kill the match.
“I want to think that we have played very well. I expected [PAOK star striker] Prijovic would start but he was probably injured until a few days ago. We played very well, we were in control and I think we would be difficult for everybody to play against this evening – but I don’t know. I hope that we were so good and it is not a fault of PAOK.”
