Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been handed a new long-term contract after reports that PSG and Barcelona have been linked with the midfielder.
PSG were strongly rumoured to be interested in Kante during the summer transfer window, but Chelsea never ever considered selling the World Cup winner.
Kante played a key role during the World Cup as Les Blues went on to win the tournament in Russia, and he has also been a key player since joining Chelsea from Leicester City in a £32million deal in 2016.
Kante is being rated as the best defensive midfielder in the world at the moment, although he now plays a more attacking role under new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri.
Kante’s contract runs out in 2021, and reports claim Chelsea have handed a new mega contract to the 27-year-old.
Kante has admitted that he is happy at Chelsea and never considered leaving the club, despite the results.
“There was not a big desire on my side to go elsewhere after the World Cup,” he said. ‘‘There was interest from other clubs, but after speaking with Chelsea, things were clear.
“The club is counting on me and I feel good here. What was logical therefore was to stay at Chelsea.
“There were some discussions with PSG. But after a discussion with Chelsea I understood that what was most important was to feel good where I was.
“I feel good at Chelsea. It is good for me to stay at Chelsea.”
