Chelsea will back Maurizio Sarri in the January transfer window by signing a centre-forward.
Sarri isn’t impressed with his striking options at Chelsea. Alvaro Morata has continued to struggle at Chelsea this season while Olivier Giroud is yet to score for the Blues this season.
Inter Milan striker striker Mauro Icardi is top of the list but Chelsea reportedly fear he may be too expensive and difficult to prise away from Inter Milan.
Icardi has a release clause of £97.5million but the clause will only become active in the summer window and Inter are trying to tempt him into an improved deal with new terms.
Another striker on the list is Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek.
Chelsea see the 23-year-old striker as a cheaper alternative to Inter’s Icardi. The Blues reportedly see the Genoa striker as a more realistic mid-season target.
Piatek joined Genoa from Cracovia in Poland for just £3.5million this year and has scored 13 goals already for Genoa this season.
Piatek is reportedly valued at £30million, an amount Chelsea will have no issues paying. Sarri’s former club Napoli are also reportedly interested in the 23-year-old.
Sarri wanted Gonzalo Higuain in the summer before the 30-year-old striker joined AC Milan but Chelsea were not prepared to spend big money on a 30-year-old.
