Former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko believes Eden Hazard can win the Ballon d’Or at Chelsea.
Hazard has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and several pundits having suggested he might have to leave Chelsea for Real Madrid to win the Ballon d’Or.
Hazard admitted this week that he wants to win the Ballon d’Or.
“Why do attackers always get individual awards? Because they are responsible for finishing attacks,” Shevchenko told Goal.
“People like to see goals scored. Hazard is a phenomenal, fantastic player, but he wasn’t getting those 20-25 goals per season.
“This season he already has eight, so he’s on the road to that number. He has every chance of winning the Ballon d’Or.”
Hazard has been in fine form this season and tops the Premier League scoring charts with seven goals in just eight games.
Shevchenko struggled to impress at Stamford Bridge after arriving from AC Milan for a then British record of £30 million in 2006, scoring just nine goals in 49 Premier League appearances.
Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata is also struggling at Stamford Bridge but Shevchenko has backed the Spanish striker to come good at Stamford Bridge.
“The main thing is that Morata has chances,” Shevchenko added.
“He just needs to become more clinical in front of goal. If he does that, he will start to score a lot, very soon.”
