After Chelsea couldn’t keep hold of former number one Thibaut Courtois, the club sold the Belgian who has always yearned for a move to Real Madrid. Courtois forced an exit during the summer after refusing to turn up for pre-season.

Chelsea went ahead to sign young goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao for a club record fee as the Blues paid over £70m for the 24-year-old to make him the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.

The Spaniard has now settled in at Stamford Bridge and was in super form on Sunday making saves after saves to keep a clean sheet as Chelsea defeated Southampton 3-0.

Kepa has now revealed that his international teammate and Manchester United goalie David De Gea helped him settle at the club after moving from Spain.

“Every player settles into a new league in different ways,” Kepa said.

“David is a team-mate with the national team and we get on really well. When I signed for Chelsea, he gave me some advice, telling me a bit about how it was for him when he came here.

“Of course, he has been here for years now and is playing at a fantastic level. We were at the World Cup together and had a good chat about the differences between Spanish and English football.

“It’s a good thing to interact with a top goalkeeper who has so much experience in the Premier League.

“You need a little time, the usual sort of time it takes to get to know your team-mates and the league itself, but it’s all good generally, I’m very happy.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
