Chelsea legend and Derby Boss Frank Lampard will ask Chelsea’s permission to play Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori ahead of a return to Stamford Bridge with Derby in the Carabao Cup at the end of the month.
Chelsea youngsters Mount and Tomori have made a big impact since joining Derby on a season-long loan and helped beat Manchester United in the Third Round last week.
According to the rules of the Carabao Cup, players on loan can’t play against their parent clubs unless an agreement is reached beforehand.
“It is a conversation to be had and I think it is Chelsea-led because they are their players,” Lampard said.
“I am pretty sure it will be Chelsea’s decision.
“I think everyone knows what my decision would be, so it will be up to them.”
To progress to the fourth of the Carabao Cup, Lampard’s Derby knocked out Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United at Old Trafford.
