Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek produced a superb display as the Blues recorded a third consecutive Europa League victory as the 22-year-old bagged a hat-trick to help Chelsea win the game against BATE Borisov 3-1.
Loftus-Cheek had scored two goals as early as ten minutes into the game, and completed his hat-trick in the second-half after a well-placed shot from the edge of the box.
It was Loftus-Cheek’s first ever career hat-trick, and his teammates mobbed him on the pitch after his third, and he has now revealed that they all cheered him up in the dressing room after the game.
“They all gave me a round of applause and started cheering,” he said, when asked to explain what happened when he went back into the dressing room. “It was a really nice feeling and everyone was congratulating me which was really good.
“Any player will tell you it’s always nice to score a hat-trick and it feels good. I’ll get this [the match ball] signed and framed in a glass box and hopefully there are many more to come.
“You don’t think about it before the game or on the day but I ended up scoring early, and then again, so I was thinking about a first-half hat-trick. I kept getting in the box and one fell on the edge of the box in the second half so I just caressed it in and the keeper touched it onto the post.”
