Chelsea went top of the table temporarily after defeating Southampton 3-0 at the St Mary’s Stadium.

Goals from Eden Hazard, Ross Barkley and Alvaro Morata gave Chelsea an all important victory.

See the players’ ratings from this game.

Kepa: Was in great form today and made a number of good saves to keep a clean sheet and prevent Southampton from an unlikely comeback. 8/10

Luiz: Was solid at the back and played the ball out from the back with relative ease. 7/10

Rudiger: Was a beast at the back as he made some important tackles, blocks and interceptions. Won some good headers and saved Chelsea with some important blocks. 8/10

Azpilicueta: A decent game in his right-back position, looked jittery on one occasion. 6/10

Alonso: Was decent on the left flank and was involved in the buildup to Morata’s goal. 6.5/10

Jorginho: Sat deep in midfield and controlled the tempo of the game. Sprayed passes all over the pitch. 7.5/10

Kante: Helped the team win balls high up the pitch and helped the team defensively. 7/10

Barkley: Worked hard to win the ball and assist Hazard for the first goal, scored the second goal which is his first goal for Chelsea and he had a good game. 8/10

Willian: Some of his set pieces were below par, and he did okay in the first half but faded away in the second half. 6/10

Hazard: Scored the opener with a neat finish and played a neat ball through to assist Morata’s goal. His trickery gave a lot of yellow cards to the Southampton players. Was too difficult to mark for Southampton. 8/10

Giroud: He didn’t get a goal but he was effective while he was on the pitch. Assisted Barkley’s goal with a scissors kick, and could have won a penalty in the first half when Wesley Hoedt slid in on him. 7/10

Morata: Missed a clear chance after coming on, but he made up for it with a beautiful finish late in the game. 7/10

Pedro: Came on for Willian with 15 minutes left, but his impact wasn’t really felt. 5/10

Kovacic: Replaced Barkley on the 81st minute and had some good moments in the game. Was good on the ball and was roughly challenged by Danny Ings that should have seen the Southampton forward get a red card. 6/10
