Chelsea have officially confirmed that Blues left-back Marcos Alonso has signed a new contract at the club that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until June 2023.
Alonso has been a key player for Chelsea since joining the club from Fiorentina in 2016, and he played an important role in our Premier League and FA Cup triumphs.
Alonso’s form hasn’t gone unnoticed and he has even been rewarded with call-ups to the Spain national team after years being snubbed.
The 27-year-old Spaniard has also been consistent for Chelsea and even chipped in eight goals last season. He deserves the new contract and he admitted that he’s glad to have signed a new deal.
Alonso said: “I am so happy to stay here longer and to keep playing for one of the best teams in the world. It’s been a very good two seasons and I am looking forward to more.”
Club director Marina Granovskaia said about the deal: “We are delighted to be extending Marcos’ contract. In the past two seasons he has developed into an important player for the club, demonstrating his outstanding ability and a fantastic attitude that has helped him become a Premier League champion and Spain international.”
