Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has admitted he’s considering using Eden Hazard as a centre-forward in the future.
Hazard has been prolific this season in front of goal, scoring eight goals in ten appearances for Chelsea this season.
This won’t be the first time Sarri is converting an attacking midfielder to a striker, having converted Hazard’s international team-mate Dries Mertens into a striker at Napoli.
Mertens impressed in the position, scoring 22 goals under Sarri last season and a whopping 34 in the campaign before that.
Moving Hazard into a more central position will definitely see him score even more goals and that could be the key to seeing the Belgian win the Ballon d’Or.
On using Hazard as a striker as he did with Mertens at Napoli, Sarri said: “I was tempted to use Hazard as a centre-forward and I might consider it again in future.
“But it’s not the right time now. We need to believe in Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata.”
With Chelsea strikers Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud misfiring this season, we could see Sarri move Hazard into a central position sooner rather than later.
