From being the Special One at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea fans have now turned against former manager Jose Mourinho, and a number of fans made that known at the Bridge when Chelsea hosted Manchester United in a Premier League fixture on Saturday.
Chelsea’s game with United ended in dramatic circumstances as the Blues scored a last-gasp goal to level the points after United had gone 2-1 up.
One of Sarri’s staff Marco Ianni, celebrated the goal in front of Mourinho much to the annoyance of the Portuguese who tried to chase him down the tunnel before being held back by players and staff.
The Chelsea fans responded by chanting ‘f*** off Mourinho’ – and the Manchester United manager responded by showing three fingers to the crowd – a reminder that he won three Premier League titles for the club during two separate spells.
Sarri revealed after the game that he accepted full responsibility for the melee that broke out after Barkley’s equaliser and brought Ianni to Mourinho to apologise afterwards.
He also sent a message to the Chelsea fans telling them to respect their former manager, Jose Mourinho.
“Mourinho here has won and so I think that we need to respect him and to respect everybody who has won a trophy for the club,” Sarri said.
