Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Manchester United ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw and Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger believes Chelsea should be happy with the point gained because we nearly lost.
Rudiger opened scoring by heading from a corner before Anthony Martial scored a second half brace. Barkley ensured Chelsea got a point from the game as he scored late into stoppage time.
Rudiger believes Chelsea let Manchester United into the game by failing to score the second goal in the first half and letting Manchester United have more of the possession.
“We can be happy with this point because we nearly lost and we are still undefeated,” Rudiger said.
“In the second half we dropped more, we let them have more possession and we did some silly mistakes so they got some counter-attacks.
“They are a strong team, physically very strong.
“We need to learn to kill matches, but scoring late so often shows our mentality. We don’t give up, and also at the moment we have luck.”
As Rudiger suggested, Chelsea have a habit of scoring late this season. Half of our goals in the Premier League this season – 10 out of 20 goals – have come in the final 20 minutes of matches.
