Chelsea’s good start to the season might not be a fluke, as Chelsea assistant coach Gianfranco Zola has revealed that Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri puts in a lot of work to see Chelsea win games.
The Blues are third on the table and are only two points behind Manchester City and Liverpool, and are yet to lose a game in all competitions this season, and Zola reveals it’s because of the work Sarri puts in.
According to Zola, Sarri is obsessed with knowing everything before a game and he gives the players detailed information about the opposition and how they should overcome them.
“It’s a lot, the level of details that he puts,” Zola told Soccer AM. “He really doesn’t leave anything by chance.
“So when the players go out on the pitch the players know everything about what they have to do and that’s a big help.
“He’s obsessed with knowing everything about the opposition and then going to the pitch to prepare everything.
“He knows player by player. All the key players of the opposition, how they defend, how they attack and so therefore doing everything to stop them from playing and playing around them, there is a lot of work.”
Zola also revealed that he hasn’t been left out of the hard work as Sarri also hands him a lot of work to do.
Asked if Sarri gives him homework, Zola laughed and said: “I cannot stop, I am watching more games in the last two months than in the last five years.”
