Chelsea beat Crystal Palace 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, with Alvaro Morata netting a brace and Pedro chipping in with a goal.
With the game at 1-1, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri brought on Eden Hazard just after the hour mark and the Belgian immediately set up Alvaro Morata’s second of the afternoon with a fine free kick.
Sarri was impressed with Hazard’s performance against the Eagles and admitted the Blues needed Hazard to beat Crystal Palace.
When asked if Chelsea needed Hazard to beat Palace, Sarri said: “Yes we did!
“We were a little bit in trouble so we needed some quality and personalty.
“We were lucky because we had Eden [Hazard] on the bench. He was able to immediately change the match.”
Morata scored a brace against Crystal Palace and Sarri admits he’s happy for the striker.
“I am really very happy for Alvaro [Morata],” Sarri added.
“He improved in the last month in confidence and personality.
“He improved also from a tactical and technical point of view. He plays with more continuity from the team.
“He has great potential physically and technically. He can improve more. Potentially he can be (a top striker at a top club). Sometimes he is a little bit fragile.”
