Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley will be up against his former club Everton when Chelsea host Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
Barkley moved to the Bridge in controversial circumstances in January for £15m after failing to make the move when Chelsea were ready to pay £30m last year summer.
Barkley is a product of the Everton academy, and after 13 years at Goodison Park, the 24-year-old will be up against his former club for the first time.
Barkley who’s having a good season under Maurizio Sarri has revealed the kind of reception he’s expecting from the Toffees fans. Barkley doesn’t think the fans will give him a good reception.
“I don’t think it [the reception] will be the best,” Barkley said in the London Evening Standard.
“I’m not nervous, I’m excited to play against my former club and team-mates – I understand how some of them play, so that could be an advantage for me.
“On the day I might get a few nerves as it will feel a bit strange. I’m looking forward to catching up with some of the staff there who I used to get on really well with.”
