Chelsea look to have won the battle to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic, according to Daily Mail.
The 20-year-old winger will be out of contract in 2020 and talks over a new contract with Borussia Dortmund has stalled.
Borussia Dortmund now accept they must cash in on the 20-year-old at the end of the season to avoid losing him for free in the summer of 2020.
Daily Mail claim Chelsea are pushing for a deal to be done in January for Pulisic, with the threat of a transfer ban from FIFA looming, after allegations Chelsea recruited under-age players.
Pulisic is one of the rising stars of the Bundesliga and was a stand-out performer for USA against England on Thursday night.
There had been talk of a price in the region of £70 million previously for Pulisic but Chelsea could sign him for less with the prospect of losing him for nothing in 2020.
Pulisic admitted this week that he was open to a move to the Premier League.
“England, the Premier League, is where lots of kids dream of playing so there is no reason why one day I won’t play here,” Pulisic said.
“We are having a great year at Dortmund and I am enjoying every moment of that. Then when the time comes for me to talk in the breaks about my future, that’s when those things will happen.”
