Aaron Ramsey will leave Arsenal at the end of the season when his contract expires and Chelsea have been linked with a move for the midfielder.
According to Daily Star, Chelsea are rethinking plans to make a move for Ramsey due to the impressive form of midfielders Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus Cheek.
Barkley has scored three times in his last three games for Chelsea while Loftus-Cheek has scored four goals in his last three appearances for Chelsea.
Maurizio Sarri isn’t short of options in midfield with players like Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Cesc Fabregas, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Danny Drinkwater fighting for midfield places.
Mateo Kovacic, on loan from Real Madrid, has impressed for Chelsea this season but the Blues reportedly have no plans to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
Fabregas’ contract will run out at the end of the season and the midfielder reiterated his desire to stay after scoring the winner in Chelsea’s 3-2 Carabao Cup win over Derby on Wednesday night.
Fabregas said: “I still believe in myself a lot and think I can add a lot to this team.
“Let’s see what happens but I am happy here. In life, not just football, timing is the most important thing.
“You don’t have to rush decisions. You don’t have to talk before things happen. At the moment I am playing once a week.
“But we will see when the time comes when the Europa League ends for two months and there is a break in the EFL Cup. Then there will only be games in the Premier League.”
