Chelsea are willing to let Callum Hudson-Odoi leave Stamford Bridge on loan in January only if he signs a new Chelsea contract, according to Metro UK.
Hudson-Odoi has just 18 months left on his contract and is stalling on signing a new contract due to concerns over first team opportunities at the club.
Bayern Munich are reportedly keen on signing the 18-year-old in January as they see him as a long-term option to Arjen Robben and Ribery. Hudson-Odoi is also reportedly considering a move to Germany.
Chelsea will not allow the youngster to leave on a permanent transfer but are willing to let him leave on loan in January only if he signs a new Chelsea contract.
Chelsea offered Hudson-Odoi a five-year contract back in July but the teenager is still yet to sign on the dotted line.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Europa League game with PAOK, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri explained why Hudson-Odoi has failed to play more.
“He has to improve and I think he has to improve a lot,” Sarri said.
“First of all in the defensive phase, he has to work, he has to improve on the offensive phase, hes very good in 1v1 [situations] but he has to learn to move without the ball.
“Potentially, he’s a very, very good play, but now he has to study, now he has to work, it’s normal, he’s 18.
“I want to find space for him. At the moment it’s not easy for him because we have 28 players, its not easy to put him in the starting XI because maybe on the bench there is Moses, or Pedro.
“So its difficult not to put these type of players in the starting XI on Wednesday or Thursday. But I will try, I will try.
“He’s in the 18 players for the match [with PAOK], I don’t know if he will start or not.”
