Chelsea had been a dominant side playing Sarri-ball under new boss Maurizio Sarri, and prior to the game against Tottenham, Chelsea were yet to lose a game all season.

Teams have been looking for ways to stop Sarri-ball, with Jorginho the engine room of everything from deep in midfield, but teams have been unable to stop Chelsea so far. However, there have been calls for Chelsea to have a plan B as some games have ended in draws this season where Chelsea should have won, like in the games against Everton and West Ham.

The defeat to Spurs have now made many cry out that Sarri ought to have a plan B, but Chelsea legend Pat Nevin thinks there’s no need for a plan B, rather Sarri should perfect his plan A.

He wrote in his column for the official Chelsea website: “I have heard it said that Chelsea have no plan B. Well we will see about that as plan A has worked fairly well to date and there was little or no need to make huge changes thus far. It may well be that Maurizio holds by the fairly recently developed football proverb, ‘If plan A fails then just make sure you do plan A better next time.’

“We will have to wait and see how it goes from here, but one bad day at the office is no reason to throw all the furniture and technology out of the window right away, even if it throws up some difficult questions. Maurizio said himself after the game that he wasn’t particularly pleased with anyone or anything in the game regarding performance levels, so he will be thinking that if everyone played better then there is still no existential problem for the Sarri-ball style.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
