Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic will be out of contract in 2020 and talks over a new contract with Borussia Dortmund has stalled.
Dortmund had been unwilling to sell the 20-year-old winger, but must now accept cash for Pulisic at the end of the season to avoid losing him for free in the summer of 2020.
And according to Daily Mail, Chelsea are pushing for a deal to be done in January for Pulisic, with the threat of a transfer ban from FIFA looming, after allegations Chelsea recruited under-age players.
However, the German club are adamant that the winger will not be leaving in the upcoming window.
“We have known these rumours for many years,” Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc told Kicker.
“We are planning with him at least until the end of the season.”
Pulisic had recently admitted that he was open to a move to the Premier League.
“England, the Premier League, is where lots of kids dream of playing so there is no reason why one day I won’t play here,” Pulisic said.
“We are having a great year at Dortmund and I am enjoying every moment of that. Then when the time comes for me to talk in the breaks about my future, that’s when those things will happen.”
