Chelsea star Eden Hazard has been tipped to win the Ballon d’Or by former Newcastle United and Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye.
Hazard and Cabaye are both graduates of Lille’s youth academy and the pair spent four years together in the first team there before Cabaye moved to Newcastle in 2011, with Hazard switching to Chelsea a season later.
Hazard has started the season in blistering form, scoring eight goals in eleven games and Cabaye believes Hazard can win the Ballon d’Or if his form for Chelsea continues.
“Eden, even back at Lille, he was a young player but he still had that quality that made him so special,” Cabaye told Daily Mail.
“I would say he is the best I have played with. He has so much quality and you see that every time he plays.
“He has the capacity of course to win the Ballon d’Or, he can be a winner in the future if he keeps it up.”
Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso also recently hailed Hazard as one of the best.
“He’s been in great form since before the World Cup,” Alonso said of Hazard.
“Last year wasn’t easy for him as he had an injury at the beginning of the season but he finished it great, played a great World Cup and you can see how he’s playing now.
“I think he’s one of the best and we are happy to have him with us.”
