Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has reportedly agreed a new five-year contract worth £300,000-a-week, which will make him one of the highest earners in the Premier League.
Kante has gone on to become one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, and was sought after during the summer transfer window, with Barcelona and PSG rumoured to be interested in the World Cup winner.
Kante is well loved among fans and players because of his gentle personality, and former Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell believes his teammates will be delighted for him about his new contract because he’s so popular in the dressing room.
“With him, everyone in that dressing room will say fair play,” he told Sky Sports’ The Debate.
“Because everyone loves him.
“He is a manager’s dream, not just for what he does on the pitch, but for what he does off it.
“He is low maintenance.
“What does that mean?
“As a manager or a coach, you will always wonder or worry at the weekend what your players are up to.
“With him, you know he is going to be in bed at half nine, his boots are going to be polished next to his bed, and if it’s snowing the next morning he’s going to be running into work.”
