Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi was Chelsea’s best performer during pre-season and there were high hopes for the teenager ahead of the new season, but the 18-year-old has been unable to break into Maurizio Sarri’s team.
Hudson-Odoi is yet to get a minute action in the Premier League this season and has even failed to make it to the bench, with the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro getting regular berth.
And now Sky Sports claim that Sarri has given the go-ahead for the youngster to move out on loan when the window reopens in January.
Hudson-Odoi – who was given two Premier League appearances by Antonio Conte last season – has only featured for 35 minutes in the Europa League under Sarri, with his two outings coming off the bench against BATE Borisov.
The teenager is highly rated at the club, and his talent was seen last season and in pre-season games, so there won’t be shortage of offers for the Chelsea youngster.
Burnley and Southampton are both interested in bringing in a new winger in January and are reportedly interested in signing the buzzing teenager. Hudson-Odoi’s profile will mean that he won’t have to go down to the Championship if Chelsea decide to loan him out in January because there will be excess interest in the youngster.
Sarri wasn’t too keen on letting Hudson-Odoi leave the club during the summer transfer window as he suggested that the youngster has a role to play.
Speaking about Hudson-Odoi back in August, Sarri said: “He is a very young player. We have to wait. In the future he will be a very, very strong player.”
