Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has slammed Willian for his performance in Chelsea’s 3-1 loss to Tottenham on Saturday.
The defeat to Tottenham ended Chelsea’s unbeaten start to the season.
Ince wasn’t impressed with Willian’s display against Tottenham and believes Willian lacked the effort needed in a derby match.
Speaking on Match of the Day 2, Ince said: “Someone needed to tell Willian that this is a London derby. [Moussa] Sissoko goes past him and first thing he does, drops his head.
“Rather than getting into position behind the ball, he’s walking, then he starts to jog, never in position to do anything.”
Ince also praised Alli for his role in stifling Chelsea playmaker Jorginho. Ince believes Chelsea ran out of ideas after Tottenham stopped Jorginho getting on the ball and dictating play.
Ince said: “Tottenham have done their homework on Chelsea. Dele did a fantastic job against Jorginho, he has stopped him getting on the ball and dictating play.
“If I’m a team looking to play against Chelsea, that’s what I’m looking at. Stop Jorginho and they seem to run out of ideas.”
The win moved Spurs above Chelsea, into third place in the Premier League table.
