A number of Chelsea players were involved in the international games played on Thursday night, and Michy Batshuayi stole the highlights.
Batshuayi scored a brace as Belgium defeated Iceland 2-0 in Brussels on Thursday. Eden Hazard played a key role in Batshuayi’s first goal as he sliced in a sumptuous pass to Thomas Meunier at the far right who squared the ball for Batshuayi to slide home from close range.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek came off the bench for England in their comfortable 3-0 friendly win over USA. Loftus-Cheek played the last 21 minutes after replacing Harry Winks while Ross Barkley was an unused substitute in the game.
Alvaro Morata came off the bench to play 25 minutes as Croatia defeated Spain 3-2. Kepa, Cesar Azpilicueta and Croatia’s Mateo Kovacic were all unused subs. The home side scored the winning goal right at the death of an entertaining contest.
Toni Rudiger featured for just over an hour as Germany defeated Russia 3-0, while Tomas Kalas remained on the bench during Czech Republic’s 1-0 win away at Poland.
