Chelsea were beaten 3-1 by Tottenham at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday, and the game showed a very different Chelsea side from what we’ve seen all season under new boss Maurizio Sarri.
Sarri has complained about the players’ lack of determination against Spurs, as the team struggled against Tottenham’s directness and high pressing.
Chelsea midfielder Jorginho who is very familiar with Sarri-ball having been with Sarri since his days at Napoli has criticised Chelsea’s forward for failing to press high up.
Chelsea’s defence was constantly exposed during the game, and Jorginho believes the front players’ inability to press exposed the team’s defence.
“Our team was not as compact as it always is,” Jorginho told ESPN. “The first pressure wasn’t being made, I believe it wasn’t being made.
“So the defensive line ended up going down a lot and our team got very stretched.
“From the beginning, when you have City in the competition, it’s already difficult.
“But I don’t think we have to look ahead. We have to look at today, now, because there is much to improve, a lot to change.”
