Ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Tottenham at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, Martin Keown has revealed he expects Chelsea star Eden Hazard to turn up against Tottenham just as he did against them to end their title hopes in 2016.
Hazard started the season in brilliant form but has gone eight games without a goal for club and country after recovering from a back injury suffered in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
“I think back to that night at Stamford Bridge in May 2016 when Hazard scored the goal that ended Tottenham’s title hopes,” Keown told Daily Mail.
“Chelsea played that night as if they had turned up simply to deny Spurs a shot at the title.
“Maurizio Sarri has nursed Hazard very well this season, easing him into the team to give him enough rest following the World Cup.
“He has been suffering with a back injury recently and has gone eight games without a goal for club and country but I expect him to turn up in a big way at Wembley.”
Keown also believes Tottenham can pick a point against Chelsea only if they can handle Hazard.
“I think it will be 1-1 but that’s only if Tottenham can handle Hazard,” Keown added as he revealed his predicition.
“He is a genius when it comes to holding on to the ball.
“He is the sort of player who scores goals that defenders can simply do little about.”
