Ahead of Chelsea’s Europa League game with PAOK later today, PAOK boss Razvan Lucescu has urged his team to play a perfect game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
PAOK, who lost 1-0 to Chelsea in Greece in September, are bottom of Group L on goal difference and Chelsea are yet to drop points in the Europa League this season.
“We will try to do everything to have a perfect game,” Lucescu said.
“Inside of all of us is the will to fight and have a very good result to continue also in the Europa League.
“It’s difficult, but we want and we wish this. The situation is not in our hands.”
PAOK have never lost in their previous visits to London. They drew 1-1 at Arsenal in 1997 and won 2-1 win at Tottenham in 2011.
September’s loss to Chelsea was the first time in five meetings PAOK had lost to English opposition.
“People remind me every day ‘don’t lose to Chelsea because we’ve never lost in London,” Lucescu added.
Chelsea lost our unbeaten start to the season last Saturday at Tottenham but Lucescu doubts that result will have a bearing on PAOK’s clash with Chelsea on Thursday.
Lucescu added: “With the defeat or the victory against Tottenham the game would’ve been on the same level of difficulty because Chelsea is Chelsea.
“We have to be ready for everything, ready to react, ready to give everything and run a lot. Chelsea have huge control of the game, they will make us run a lot.
“Whenever we have the ball we need to take advantage of our quality.”
