Super Frankie Lampard as he was fondly called during his playing days at Chelsea where he reached legendary status and won a lot of trophies.
Now retired from playing and in his first managerial job, Lampard visited Stamford Bridge but this time as an opposition manager as he led his Derby County team to Stamford Bridge for a Carabao Cup fourth round tie.
Chelsea fans dropped all rivalry aside and gave Lampard a befitting homecoming on his return to the ground where he won it all.
Lampard thanked the fans for the reception he got at the end of the game.
He said: “I’m so thankful to the Chelsea fans. They know how I feel about them.
“I’ve got nothing but 13 years of great memories at this place. I come back and they act like that. I can only thank them and the Derby fans as well.
“I’m a lucky man to get an evening like that. I thank everybody.”
