Chelsea defeated Derby County 3-2 in the Carabao Cup fourth round, and the Blues are now through to the quarterfinals of the competition.
Chelsea have now been drawn to play Bournemouth in the quarterfinal – a repeat of last year’s draw with Bournemouth visiting the Bridge shortly before Christmas last year – a game Antonio Conte’s side won 2-1.
Speaking about facing Bournemouth, Zola said: “You can see in this country in cup games teams can’t be underestimated. That’s the beauty of this country. We can call it a friendly draw but Bournemouth isn’t going to be easy, for sure. When we played them earlier in the season they really caused us a lot of problems and they were unlucky.”
Cesc Fabregas who was on the scoresheet in the 3-2 win over Derby has urged the squad to take the competition serious and win the tournament, which will spur the fight for other trophies.
Fabregas said: “If you win a trophy in February it gives you a lot of confidence for the rest of the season, and I agree. You have to take it seriously, and it’s a good opportunity for the whole squad to compete.”
