Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek was originally keen on leaving the club on loan in the January transfer window having found little playing time this season.
At 22, the England international is yet to break into the Chelsea first team, and there have been calls for him to leave Chelsea as he can’t beat the competition at the club at the moment.
Back in October, Rio Ferdinand urged Loftus-Cheek to leave Stamford Bridge if he wants his career to go on a high.
Ferdinand said: “If I’m Ruben Loftus-Cheek I’m banging down the manager’s door and saying ‘are you going to play me or not?’
“‘I’ve got potential, I think I’m better than half these players you’re bringing in, if you aren’t going to play me, tell me and I’m going.’
“Don’t have me hanging about here getting stale. If you’re not playing in the team as a young kid you go stale mentally and physically.”
However, Loftus-Cheek has been in good form of recent with a hat-trick against BATE Borisov followed by a goal against Burnley, and he’s now looking like he can break into the Chelsea first team.
West Ham and Crystal Palace are interested in a loan deal for Loftus-Cheek in January, but the Mirror claim Sarri will block efforts from Loftus-Cheek to exit the club as he feels Chelsea will need the Englishman during the final months of the season.
