Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has revealed his plans for Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek ahead of the January transfer window.
Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson revealed weeks ago that he would be interested in a loan move for Loftus-Cheek if the midfielder becomes available in January.
Sarri has ruled out a loan move for the 22-year-old midfielder in January.
Asked if Loftus-Cheek will leave Chelsea on loan in January, Sarri said: “Ruben in October played four matches out of five so at the moment the situation is not for a loan.
“Cahill it depends on him I think, he played very often in last seven or eight matches so I don’t know.
“It depends on him and the club. For me, Cahill is very important on the pitch and out of the pitch.”
Loftus-Cheek has scored four goals in his last three games for Chelsea and Sarri hailed his offensive abilities but was also quick to remind Loftus-Cheek that he must improve defensively.
“He has improved but I think he needs to improve more from a tactical point of view,” Sarri added.
“All the rest… good physically, he has great characteristics, he’s fast, solid technically, he’s very good and I think that if he wants to play like a midfielder he has to improve in defensive phase. But the potential is great.”
