Ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Tottenham at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has revealed he is a huge admirer of Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen.
Former Chelsea coach Antonio Conte once admitted that Harry Kane was the one player he would like to sign from Tottenham but Sarri prefers Eriksen.
“Of course Harry Kane is the best English striker in the moment, so a very important player, but if I have to say another name, I like very much Eriksen,” Sarri said.
“Why? Because he is a very smart player, a very technical player. He’s able to play in midfield and, at the same moment, score eight or nine goals in a season. I think that he is a very important player.
“I like him very much, but I don’t want to talk about a player of Tottenham for the market, of course. I only answered a (hypothetical) question.”
Eriksen has just over 18 months left on his contract and the Danish international has been linked with a move away from Tottenham.
The 26-year-old midfielder has provided two assists for Tottenham this season in nine Premier League appearances.
Would you want Chelsea to make a move for Eriksen during the summer if the Danish international fails to extend his Tottenham contract?
