18-year-old midfielder George McEachran has joined up with the senior squad ahead of Chelsea’s Europa League game against Vidi on Thursday.
George McEachran is the younger brother of Brentford midfielder and Chelsea academy product Josh McEachran.
Like his older sibling, McEachran plays in central midfield, and will hope to be given a chance against the Hungarian side on Thursday.
Chelsea have already progressed to the knockout round of the Europa League and have secured top spot in Group L after winning all five games in the group. It means there’s an opportunity for McEachran to make his Chelsea debut on Thursday.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is likely to play a heavily rotated team against Vidi on Thursday night, with Chelsea’s qualification for the tournament’s knockout stages already secured and top spot in the group guaranteed.
McEachran was part of Chelsea’s open training session on Wednesday morning as the Blues prepare for the game against Vidi, our last group game.
McEachran has won two youth league titles at Chelsea, and the 2017 Under-17 World Cup alongside Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Another Chelsea academy player Conor Gallagher was also called up to the senior squad ahead of the game against Vidi.
It would be nice to see these young stars get a chance against Vidi.
