Manchester City are the favourites for the Premier League title this season, and Chelsea are the only side to have beaten the Citizens in the league this term.
Chelsea showed character to defeat a brilliant Pep Guardiola’s side at Stamford Bridge last weekend, and it was a massive result from Chelsea.
The game wasn’t an easy one for the Blues as every player had a role to play in that victory.
Chelsea defender and skipper in that game Cesar Azpilicueta has revealed the secret to Chelsea’s victory in that game.
Azpilicueta was one of the best players on the pitch in that game, and was dogged in defence, making 13 tackles to help Chelsea keep a clean sheet.
“The sheer will to win — everyone sticking to their jobs,” Azpilicueta told the Daily Mail when asked what the secret is to beating City.
“Every team are different. Every team have different players. We beat City in our own way. Other teams must do it their own way.
“City are so good that you cannot let them dictate the game. After three defeats in two games, people were starting to talk about us (negatively) so to beat City was a big moment for us.
“Now people are talking about us beating City but it’s only three points. Three points against City is the same three points if we beat Brighton on Sunday.”
