Chelsea defeated Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday, and the Blues have now advanced to the semifinal of the tournament.
Chelsea have been drawn to face London rivals Tottenham in a mouthwatering semifinal clash, while in the other semifinal clash, Manchester City will have an easy opposition in Burton Albion.
Tottenham were the first team to beat Chelsea this season, as Mauricio Pochettino’s men got a 3-1 victory at the Wembley Stadium in a game where they outclassed a then unbeaten Maurizio Sarri side.
However, Ross Barkley is expecting a different ballgame when both sides meet again in January for the semifinal clash.
Barkley said: “Tottenham are a good side but we are coming into it with confidence that we can do what we need to do to get into the final.
“That is the target, and we are going to approach that game by training very hard and we look forward to that game.
“The league game will be in the back of our minds, that they are our rivals and we want to beat our rivals, and playing in the semi-final against Tottenham is going to be a really exciting game.”
