After 15 Premier League games this season, Chelsea are ten points behind leaders Manchester City ahead of the clash between the two teams on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
According to Chelsea legend Dennis Wise, Chelsea won’t challenge for the Premier League title this season.
“From a footballing point of view, the Manchester City game this Sunday is the biggest challenge of Chelsea’s season,” Wise said, according to Daily Express.
“City are setting an example of where Chelsea need to get to as a team. I see City dominating for years to come.
“I see the game finishing as a draw, a very tight game where Chelsea will allow Manchester City more possession than they would normally do, setting up to hit them on the break.
“I can’t see Chelsea challenging for the title.
“It’s Sarri’s first season and he’s already stated he needs to teach the team about his approach and the way he wants to play football.”
Sarri himself explained the problems Chelsea need to solve before the City game.
“We have a problem to manage the match at the moment,” Sarri explained.
“In the last two matches we played well for 55, 60 minutes but at the first difficulty we blacked out.
“In the first match [a 2-0 win over Fulham] we were lucky because they didn’t score.
“In the last match [against Wolves] we were a little unlucky as our opponent had five shots and only two on target, and we conceded two goals. But, after the first goal, we went into [a] blackout and were not able to react.”
