Chelsea are reportedly leading the race to sign Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir, according to French media outlet L’Equipe.
According to the report, Chelsea have tasked Pini Zahavi, an experienced agent, with getting the deal completed.
The Blues want the 25-year-old World Cup winner and Lyon captain to join next summer.
Fekir was close to joining Liverpool in the summer transfer window after a £53 million fee was agreed with Lyon but Liverpool opted not to go through with the deal after concerns were raised over the midfielder’s right knee.
Fekir required two operations within the space of 12 months after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture in September 2015.
The report on L’Equipe also claims Zahavi has approached the representatives of Fekir to register Chelsea’s interest and discuss a potential switch to Stamford Bridge next summer.
Chelsea flirted with the idea of moving for Fekir last summer before opting out but it now seems the Blues are ready to make a move for the 25-year-old.
With Chelsea struggling to score goals this season, signing Fekir will definitely give us goals from midfield. Fekir scored 18 goals and provided 8 assists in 30 appearances for Lyon last season. He has six goals and four assists in 16 appearances so far this season.
Fekir has just 18 months left on his current contract with Lyon.
