Chelsea have completed the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic according to former American striker Eddie Johnson.
Johnson accidentally confirmed Pulisic’s move to Chelsea on Instagram while posting a picture of Pulisic in a Dortmund and Chelsea chelsea.
“So stoked for you lil’ bro, great move,” Johnson wrote on Instahram alongside a picture of Pulisic in both a Dortmund and Chelsea jersey.
“Can’t wait to watch you alongside Eden Hazard.”
Pulisic was a first-choice starter in his initial two full seasons in Dortmund but lost his place through injuries and the emergence of Jadon Sancho. He has only played 11 times in the Bundesliga this season, scoring once and providing two assists.
Pulisic is out of contract in 2020 and Dortmund have now accepted to cash in on him after failing to agree a new contract with the American international who has been capped 23 times.
The Sun had claimed this week that Liverpool were on the verge on signing the 20-year-old after beating Arsenal’s offer for the American.
The report on The Sun claimed Arsenal had seen an initial bid of £35 million rejected by the Bundesliga leaders while Liverpool have offered £45 million for the 20-year-old, which is closer to Dortmund’s asking price.
German newspaper Bild claim Chelsea have reached an agreement with Dortmund for the winger and the American will move to Stamford Bridge next summer. It is believed Chelsea have reached a deal with Dortmund to sign Pulisic for £45 million.
Chelsea wanted the winger to move to Stamford Bridge in January but Dortmund held strong to their position not to let Pulisic move out of Signal Iduna Park in the middle of the season.
Pulisic has previously made it clear that he wanted to test himself in the Premier League at some point in his career and he would now have a chance to do that next season.
Pulisic told the Mirror: “England, the Premier League, is a league where lots of kids dream of playing so there is no reason why maybe one day I won’t play here.
“As you can see, we are having a great year at Dortmund and I am enjoying every moment of that.”
Pulisic’s father, Mark, has now started following Chelsea and Eden Hazard on Twitter.
There had been reports that Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi would be part of the deal to sign Pulisic but Bild makes no mention of that happening which is good news for Chelsea fans who want Hudson-Odoi to develop into a superstar at Stamford Bridge.
