Chelsea have reportedly joined the list of clubs interested in signing Porto defender Eder Militao, according to Daily Mail.
Militao can also play as a right-back and defensive midfielder and has already been capped by Brazil.
The 20-year-old Brazilian centre-back is understood to have the same agents as Chelsea’s Brazilian stars David Luiz and Willian.
Militao has a €50 million (£44 million) release clause in his deal after arriving from Sao Paulo for just €4 million (£3.5 million) in August, according to Bleacher Report.
Manchester City were reportedly considered making a move for the 20-year-old early in the year before Militao joined Porto last summer from Sao Paulo.
The Brazilian centre-back has impressed since making the move to Porto and has now been scouted by Manchester United, Juventus and Everton. Chelsea have now joined the race for the defender.
With the contracts of Gary Cahill and David Luiz expiring at the end of the season, a centre-back signing is a priority and Militao is being considered by the Blues.
Several reports even claim Chelsea are considering making a move for the player in January but unless Chelsea meet his release clause, Porto will definitely be reluctant to sell a player they just signed last summer.
Militao has played 12 games this season and scored in their 3-1 Champions League victory over Schalke last week.
