Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has claimed Chelsea and Arsenal have no chance of winning the Premier League title and believes the Premier League is a three-horse race between Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City this season.
Liverpool went six points clear at the top of the table and are currently unbeaten. Chelsea are 11 points off leaders Liverpool.
According to Redknapp, Chelsea are too reliant on Hazard and are still short of a front man before the Blues can challenge for the title.
“I think it’s a three horse race,” Redknapp told talkSPORT.
“Liverpool are the favourites now which is a big turnaround.
“But Tottenham are in great form at the moment and they are genuine title contenders.
“Spurs are still in it, you can’t write them off. They are bang there, the way they are playing at the moment.
“I can’t see anybody else getting into it.
“I watched Arsenal yesterday and they are nowhere near in my opinion. I know they’ve had injuries, but at the back they are still very poor.
“And Chelsea are just so reliant on Eden Hazard. Without him you couldn’t really see them challenging, they’re still short of a frontman.
“So really, I think there are three runners and I think it will be very tight.
“It’s going to be a great title race this year.”
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has refused to write off Chelsea’s title chances despite the Blues being 11 points behind Liverpool.
“We had no idea about the Manchester City result until after the game,” Klopp said.
“We play City soon – if I was them I would think there is only four points because we still have to play them, then we play Arsenal before then as well.
“The only thing that matters to us is the performance and keeping that level of performance.
“It’s good but that’s all. Tottenham are flying – they had a difficult summer but they are doing brilliant.
“We are on a good run as well. Chelsea will win, Arsenal will win, it will be a race until the final day.
“But we are in it and that’s important.
“We’re just creating a basis for the rest of the season and the basis after the first part of the season is obviously a good one.”
Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger insisted after Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Leicester City at Stamford Bridge last Saturday that Chelsea’s title hopes are over. According to Rudiger, Chelsea must now focus on finishing in the top four.
“It is a disaster. We do not talk about the title anymore,” Rudiger said.
“If we cannot win these games, we cannot compete.
“We only talk about the top four now.
“Maybe it is a lack of mentality, stupid.”
