Chelsea summer signing Jorginho was the centre of everything as Sarri-ball was a success when Maurizio Sarri was Napoli boss.
Upon signing for Chelsea, the Italian brought his trusted midfielder and the pair brought Sarri-ball to the Premier League.
Sarri-ball had been a success until recently when teams come up with a plan to stop Jorginho’s play in midfield. From Everton where Chelsea played a goalless draw to the devastating 3-1 defeat against Tottenham the following week, it was a bad day for Sarri-ball.
Teams will now come up with a game plan to stop Sarri-ball by stopping Jorginho, but former Arsenal midfielder Adrian Clarke has a way out for Sarri.
Clarke believes that by playing N’Golo Kante beside Jorginho against teams that want to mark out Jorginho, Chelsea will easily tire out the opposition midfield and give Jorginho a way out.
Writing in the official Premier League website, Clarke wrote: “Maurizio Sarri has stated he does not want to move away from a 4-3-3 or use someone who is not a technical playmaker in the centre of his midfield,” Clarke said.
“That would appear to rule out a switch to 4-2-3-1 with N’Golo Kante joining Jorginho in deeper areas.
“But do not be surprised if the Frenchman plays far closer to Jorginho on Sunday.
“If the Italian is marked closely, Kante will need to show for the ball instead, dragging a marker with him. This could partially alleviate the issue.”
