Chelsea are through to the semi-final of the Carabao Cup after defeating Bournemouth 1-0 in the quarterfinal clash at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

The Blues have now been drawn to play Tottenham in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup while Manchester City will face Burton Albion.

Spurs defeated Arsenal on Wednesday evening to reach the semi-finals of the competition, while City could only beat Leicester City on penalties on Tuesday night to reach the semi-final.

League One side Burton Albion beat Championship club Middlesbrough to book a place in the semi-finals.

The first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals will take place in the week commencing January 7 with Tottenham at home to Chelsea, while City will host Burton Albion at the Ethihad Stadium. The second legs will be played in the week starting on January 21.

Tottenham were the first team to beat Chelsea this season, and it was Spurs who put an end to Chelsea’s unbeaten start to the season at a time when Maurizio Sarri’s men were flying high in all quarters.

Sarri is yet to win a trophy as a manager, and the Italian will be keen to start with the Carabao. Sarri has fielded his second string side for most of the Carabao Cup, but might be tempted to use his best squad to face Spurs in January.
