Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville believes Chelsea haven’t looked like title contenders this season and insists the Blues deserve to be where we are in the Premier League.
The Blues are currently placed fourth on the Premier League table, with only a better goal difference separating us from fifth-placed Arsenal.
Chelsea are currently 11 points behind league leaders Liverpool, who are the only unbeaten team left in the Premier League.
The Blues have produced a more positive brand of football under Maurizio Sarri this season but have faded off after starting the season unbeaten and being in the title race.
Chelsea’s shock 1-0 loss to Leicester City means the Blues must now focus on securing a top-four finish.
“From the moment, I watched Chelsea against West Ham, I wasn’t convinced,” Neville said on his podcast.
“When people said ‘Chelsea can win the league’, I wasn’t convinced.
“There was something not right about them with the team.
“I think where Chelsea is at is good.
“Sarri is doing a good job.
“They’re settling back into where I thought they would be which is challenging for the Champions League and certainly not contenders for the title.
“That’s where I saw them a couple of months ago.”
Chelsea have three fixtures in the space of eight days, starting off with a trip to face Watford on Boxing Day.
