There has been a lot of debate about N’Golo Kante’s role under new manager Maurizio Sarri. The Chelsea boss tends to play Kante in an advanced midfield role, while Jorginho plays as the deep playmaker.
Kante is hailed as the best defensive midfielder in the world, and pundits argue that we are yet to see the best of the Frenchman in his new position.
In the 3-1 defeat to Tottenham, Chelsea’s midfield was outfoxed by Spurs rampaging midfield and Jorginho was a major culprit in the goals conceded.
There have been calls for Sarri to deploy kante back to his normal position, but the Italian has revealed that he prefers to play a creative midfielder as his deep lying playmaker.
Chelsea star Eden Hazard has now revealed that Kante is a smart player and can adapt to his new position.
“He’s very important, believe me,” Hazard told Chelsea’s official website. “The way the manager wants him to play is a bit different to last year and two years ago, but I think he can adapt.
“He’s clever on the pitch and in midfield he’s one of the best in the world, we all know that.
“He’s won almost everything so we need him and he will show the best of N’Golo soon.”
